Writing a novel is a daunting affair. Sometimes the 80,000-word finish line can seem a long way off when you are on page two. That's why you need to set smaller goals to reach for. Try to set a goal of writing 1,000 words a day or if that seems like too much, take it down a notch to 500 words. Not into word count? Try establishing a four hour long stretch of writing. If it seems like too much to write for four hours, do one hour. Don't think you can do one hour? Do 15 minutes.
If you set smaller easily achieved goals, you will find it easier to keep building towards your main goal of a finished novel. And the added benefit of reaching those smaller goals, is you get to celebrate having achieved that goal in any way that pleases you.
And wouldn't you want every day to be a celebration?
